Sunset Series

Took the photos from the top deck of the Disney Fantasy out in the Caribbean Sea, after sailing away from the Cayman Islands. We were just behind the hurricane Nicole, that was just hitting the southern tip of Florida. So, the sky was beautiful and it was full of big puffy clouds. I was struck by how beautiful the sunset was - so I grabbed my camera and took a series of photo for my travel blog TRAVELS WITH MICHAEL https://twitter.com/TravelsWithMic2/status/1593646627641708544?s=20 https://www.tiktok.com/@travelswithmichaelc/video/7167462948481502510?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7167463217623926318

Las Vegas – January 2022

Day 1 - Thursday So I decided to take a quick weekend excursion to Las Vegas to see some friends. My roommate drove out with me so I did not have to drive alone - thank you Todd! Since I am getting ready for my birthday trip to Ireland this year - I got myself a GoPro before heading out of town! So we drove out Thursday afternoon - it was a lovely drive. I do not often drive up through the desert to join the 15, but we did that and frankly, I think it is a smoother and easier trip...it is more of a two-lane highway, so it sucks to get stuck behind a truck BUT it beats having to be stuck in traffic going through the city! So my first stop was Henderson, Nevada and Boulder City, staying with my roommate's family. Friday - Day 2 Boulder City was such a charming cit...

Central America

My good friend Jason and I are in the middle of writing a treatment to a script. We meet weekly at our favorite bar The Federal, during happy hour; we sit out on the back patio and we hash out ideas for our script! So we are both vaccinated! And I had not been on an airplane in over a year, because I did not want to fly until I was fully vaccinated. But as we both sat there, discussing our script, we realized how bored and antsy we were becoming, tired from quarantine fatigue. So....we decided then and there that we should book a trip somewhere and continue writing on some beach in Mexico. But after much research, we finally decided on Costa Rica! We found an amazingly inexpensive flight on Copa Airlines, that had a 17 hour layover in Panama! I had been to Costa Rica before, sinc...

Joshua Tree, California

I went to Joshua Tree with my friend Krystale Noir to do a boudoir photoshoot out in the desert. But while out there for work, I HAD to take a day to myself to see the area. Even though I am from Southern California, I had never seen Joshua Tree or the surrounding area [including the National Park.]. Since I do photography, I love going to national parks and taking photos/videos. https://youtu.be/4IMC_j6jk2M The national park service provides an awesome year pass that you can buy for $80. It is good for any park for an entire year - and it isn't per person, it's for each car...so it works for the whole family. Each national park can range in price from $20 to $35 per car - so this pass is truly a great deal, especially if you plan on visiting more than one [1] park in a yea...

Solo Travel

So, I travel for work - a lot! I work in the film industry and sometimes I am required to work out of town. I am also sometimes require to work out of state - and if I am lucky - out of the country. When I travel for work, it can anywhere from a few days to a few weeks - and there have been times that I have had to travel with just a couple of days notice. [Putting your life on hold for 5 weeks with just a couple days notice is tough - very tough!] But, it has helped me prepare myself for solo traveling. Also, I should mention here that I grew up as a twin. I have a twin sister; therefore, I have spent every birthday sharing it with someone else. So, to celebrate my birthday, I try to book a trip every year. [Sometimes, it could just be a road trip a few hours away] But, it is defin...

Zion National Park

One of the best things about working in the film industry is that there are times when I get to travel for a project. Besides filming - and photography - traveling is one of my most favorite things to do! So much so that I created a whole new instagram account just for my travel photography! Travels with Michael C For this job I was taken to a small town at the Utah/Arizona border called Kanab, Utah. I did not know this at the time, but this town is known as the Little Hollywood of Utah because they have shot many, many films there, especially a lot of the western films from the early days of film! And I am not going to lie, the landscape out in that area is truly stunning. It is, after all, only 30 minutes away from Zion National Park. Actually, the awesome thing about Kanab is ...

1870 Haunt Manor

During the time of Covid, we are facing our first Halloween that is being shut down due to the virus. Normally, I would have already been to Universal Halloween Horror Nights and perhaps have gone to another larger event or horror maze in the area. This year, however, for safety concerns - and having to social distance and avoid large crowds, most events - including the massive Halloween Carnivale - in West Hollywood have been cancelled. Luckily, I was able to attend an awesome horror-themed Escape Room in Fullerton, California: Zoe, by Escapade Games. That was definitely kick-ass - if you are local to Los Angeles or Orange County, I highly recommend it. But one thing you need to check out is 1870 Haunt Manor in Anaheim, CA. Created by 16 year old Mike Fernandez - it is a so...

Yacht in Los Angeles Harbor

During these unprecedented times, it is definitely hard to stay focused and sane. The weather is getting warmer - much warmer! - and it's hard to stay indoors. Our natural reaction then would be to flock to such places as the beach...or a park...or a pool...BUT then we risk of contracting the Corona virus OR run the risk of infecting others. Also, many folks, like myself, are not working that much and our stimulus has run out. So it is no wonder that folks are restless, scared, or just numb now to everything. I know that I am. Recently I have felt more isolated and alone. I do visit people but not as often as I used to - and definitely very socially distanced. I miss working, especially when my bills are due! And I miss traveling! Like...a lot! So when my friend texted me the ot...

Mazatlan, Mexico

So on my actual birthday I took a road trip to Solvang, California but the big birthday trip I took was with my roommate Todd - whose birthday is also in February - to Mazatlan, Mexico. So we traveled at the end of February as most of the area was booked for Carnival. The good thing was that it was fairly quiet and low key while we were there, so definitely a great time for a quiet birthday week. We stayed at the El Cid Moro resort, right on the Pacific Ocean. An all-inclusive resort. Talk about an amazing view! And watching the sunset our first night there was so unbelievable! Beginning our first night there, my friend Todd and I caught the dinner show they have and then made our way up to the bar for some karaoke.  By the way, this became our nightly routine, and...

Solvang, California

So the first trip I took in 2020, was a road trip I took with my friend Jacob Michael for my birthday. [My birthday is February 18th] And we drove up ON the day of my actual birthday. I love celebrating my birthday in a new place every year. So if I am not on set on the day of my birthday - I like to travel! The city of Solvang, CA is about an hour and a half north of Los Angeles. Solvang is a little dutch city inland from Santa Barbara. There is also a nice mission there - Mission San Inez. The day we went the weather was BEAUTIFUL. Not too hot, not too cold. [Sometimes it rains on my birthday.]  I was also not aware of how much wine tasting you can do in Solvang.  So to know me, is to know that I LOVE wine tasting - and when I got there and realized there ...
